Metric Deployment – The NVH Controller

NVH Controller Concept
The NVH Controller operates at the direction of a Test Sequencing System such as a PLC to make measurements and publish metrics, which can then be displayed on a Test machine's HMI. Fully automated file management via Trove means that the NVH Controller can collect, process and store very large amounts of data and run uninterrupted indefinitely.

In automation, data collection and the computation of metrics are executed by the NVH ControllerTM.  This device can be embedded into almost any automated testing system and runs "headless" (no keyboard, mouse or monitor required). It will accept commands from typical industrial PLCs or any test sequencing system capable of Ethernet communication. The NVH Controller is deployed exclusively on National Instruments PXI hardware running the LabVIEW real-time operating system.

Use the NVH Controller to:

  • Embed NVH assessment capability in your test machine using a rugged industrial form factor with broad commercial acceptance in manufacturing plants and laboratories alike.
  • Take advantage of an expansive network of hardware availability and support through National Instruments offices around the world.
  • Benefit from many years of proven reliability in ultra-demanding 24/7 operations.
  • Access recent data files at-will without concern for interrupting ongoing testing operations.
  • Achieve 100% data archival and retrieval when used in conjunction with Trove, our solution for automated data management.

The NVH Controller supports most National Instruments DSA products. However, for new systems, we suggest the following:

NVH Controller
The recommended National Instruments PXIe system configuration for running Signal.X Shield.
  • PXIe-1082 8 slot chassis
  • PXIe-4492 8 channel DSA, or PXIe-4497 16-channel DSA
  • PXIe-6612 counter/timer (up to 4 speed inputs)
  • PXI 6281 MIO 16 SE or 8 differential inputs (other functions of this card not supported)
  • PXI-8512 2-port High speed CAN
  • PXIe-8135 Real-time controller with 500GB RAM upgrade (upgrade to SSD for enhanced reliability)
