The Signal.X / University of Cincinnati Co-op Program: The Co-op Perspective, Part 7

I started working for Signal.X in January 2018 for my first co-op rotation without any real world experience. Since starting, I have had multiple projects that allowed me to apply the knowledge I have gained in class as well as learn and apply even more skills that I have acquired at Signal.X. Specifically, I have had the opportunities to learn and use LabVIEW, work with hardware from encoders to a variety of National Instruments devices, gain a better understanding of signals and systems, and become familiar enough with HTML/PHP/Javascript to work on websites.

Outside of work, the condo provided for co-ops is not only larger than the dorms at UC but it is located in a nice area as well as being close to the office.

Signal.X has provided me with many more opportunities than I had expected as a first term co-op and I look forward to coming back and working on even more challenging projects.

Since 2004, Signal.X Technologies has provided software and systems integration for complex end-of-line test systems and industrial automation. Controlling a production test system requires a multi-disciplinary team that brings together electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and controls knowledge. Done correctly, end-of-line test systems operate reliably day in and day out, while maintaining the level of flexibility needed… Continue Reading

Fun Stuff Friday: Whirlyball!

Happy Friday everyone! If you needed any further proof that engineers know how to have fun, I cite for you our company outing to play – wait for it – whirlyball! Whatyball? Whirlyball. (Don’t worry, I hadn’t heard of it either.) It’s part bumper cars, part jai alai, part basketball. Imagine driving a bumper car… Continue Reading

Since starting, Signal.X has allowed me to further explore these skills, with projects relating to mechanical design, signal processing, machining, fabricating, and coding in LabVIEW. In addition, I have participated in meetings with clients, visited customer sites,… Continue Reading
